August Weekend Rally – “Iowa Irish Fest Rally”

Dates: August 2-5, 2018
Location: Antique Acres, 7610 Waverly Road, Cedar Falls, IA – 50613 – MAP and website

BUDDY RALLY – All are welcome to join us!  No Airstream required!!
Just call in advance to reserve a spot for you!!

Irish Fest in Lincoln Park Map & Fest Website & U-Tube Video – from 2017 Fest – 2 minutes

Current plan for August – Iowa Irish Fest Rally:

August 2-5

Antique Acres, just north of Cedar Falls – easy to get to from Rt 3 or 20 and Hwy 218.  Site of annual Old Threshers Fair – two weeks after our rally.  Camp ground should be in good shape for that.  There are at least 50 sites with 30 amp service, and more with 15.  Water and dump station is available.

Tours may include John Deere in W’loo, Rada Knives in Waverly, etc.

Breakfasts only, usual Thursday night welcome with sandwich and salad to share, maybe an evening meal during the rally, or go to the Brown Bottle Italian Restaurant just south of Antique Acres.

Known costs as of now – $15/night to park.  We have been able to secure half price tickets for the Irish Fest.  Normally $20 each, those coming to the rally will pay $10, but only if I have names by July 5.  That’s when our very special deal with the Fest Chairman ends.  Because we must buy the nonrefundable tickets in advance, well, when I receive names, I need to consider those as obligated.

Iowa Irish Fest:

I think I read on Ancestry.com that 80% of Americans have at least some Irish blood.  Now’s your chance to celebrate!

August 3-5

4th largest Irish Fest in the United States – 40,000 visitors last year.  There won’t be a hotel room to be found.  This is a major event in NE Iowa.  Attendees will come from all over the United States.

Location is downtown Waterloo in Lincoln Park, plus 7 city blocks are roped off for the Fest which includes the park, Elks Club, restaurants, shops.  The location is about 20 minutes from the campground.  Parking downtown is very easy – park garage just a block from the entrance.

There’s an optional/extra cost whiskey tasting at the Elks Club, and there will be plenty of beer and food, but the whole Fest is family friendly and was well patrolled by W’loo police just to be sure.

6 stages of music – four outdoors, two in bars.  Non-stop music.  Long list of entertainers, some from Ireland.  Music is the focus, but there are workshops, 3 face painters, activities for children, demonstrations, vendors, 5K run, rugby match and more. Google Iowa Irish Fest and view some videos.

Sunday is the last day of the Fest, and those of the Catholic Faith gather in the park for Mass.  Then back to the celebration.

It will be too much fun.  Spend all 3 days at the Fest, do the rally tours, whatever.  Some at the rally may want to stay until Monday to leave.
